Ever since I began to toy with the word Pilgrimage (journey to a sacred place), as my word for 2014, I've been having the sweetest dreams. Walking between the villages of the Cinque Terre in North West Italy linked by a cliff path. Re-visiting a cottage in Donegal, where we once drank wine and danced wildly into the New Year. Moving . . .
The edge of our future
We are wandering close to the edge of our future. While the International Monetary Fund pack their bags we in Ireland are left with much unfinished business. My usually upbeat tribe of creatives are struggling to stay grounded. Looking for direction, going up blind alleys, flying kites. There are flashes of . . .
Meanwhile back on planet earth
The backsides of two bullocks grab the warm morning light and become walking terracotta canvasses. They rustle the swan into alertness and she glances over her shoulder as they pass. Not too many more trips around the sun before we will slow into winter, and this morning I am back on planet earth savouring the moment. There are so many people to . . .
Rabbit, headlights.
It was so good of you all to put me into the final of the Blog Awards 2013 Thank you! What can I say? For about 30 seconds after I heard the news I was delighted, but then performance anxiety set in and I wanted to go right back into the burrow and hide! Rabbit, headlights. Immediate next thought? What kind of rabbit would have to be pulled . . .
There’s grey and then there’s grey……
There's grey and then there's grey in it. Thin milky grey that comes down as a low cloud, covering up beauty and bringing the whole country to it's knees for the lack of light. Always an apprentice
; Are we always beginners? I remember setting a goal to try blogging for three years. Now two thirds of the way there, am I getting somewhere? The inspiration was to have an online studio, a sacred sharing space for an aspiring light seeker. A soothing cushion between a harsher world that any introvert would prefer . . .
An encounter with a dragon
I crashed into the week with news of an unexpected piece of work which was urgently required but at the very same time an old slain dragon (one I thought had long been put to bed) suddenly erupted into fiery form and whacked me over the head with it's tail!!! In no time there I was in the eye of . . .
The light of new possibilities…..
The word for 2013 is light. It opens my heart to the light in photography which I am learning is the very essence of it; to the lightness of footprint on the planet which I hold dear; and to the light of new possibilities. From Monday morning work gets back to normal and the day job continues to throw up even more . . .
