Living in muted colour

The Rosebay Willowherb are at the end of this cycle. At their height they are pinker and deeper than a girly pink. In early autumn they go to seed in a fluffy fashion and by December they are gnarled fists of skeletal remains clinging to their stalks.

In clumps along the ditches, they mark time with me, and as I walk I begin counting back months and reliving my own year.

I started out 2013 seeking light. Throughout the year I embraced shade. In spite of everything I am living in colour! Albeit more muted.

A few photographic memories from 2013......

One of those nights.......in September

  1. The seeds are beautiful - and so evocative at this time of year. Good companions as we look backwards, and forwards...

  4. Catherine, I have a question regarding my photo that you may be able to help with. For some blogs I follow, my avatar doesn't show when I make a comment, only this strange "Stop Sign" looking thing. Any ideas why that might be? I have logged on with google and they show my avatar when I put in my password....it's all strange, but since I'd like to visit here, it would be nice not to have this strange looking symbol! My system is completely bug-free....we run security protocols everyday. Susie
